Chatbase alternative

The Chatbase alternative for when the bot can no longer be an experiment

Chatbase is an excellent way to validate the idea: you upload your documentation, paste a script and have a bot running the same afternoon. The problem shows up later, when it has to handle real cases and you discover that the work of getting it there is entirely yours.

An assistant configured for your industry, always citing its sources, with a team behind it reviewing real conversations with you.

Honest summary

If you want to build a bot on your own documents and find out whether the idea holds up, Chatbase is hard to beat on speed and entry price. If you are past that stage and need the assistant to understand how your industry actually works, to cite what it answers and to not depend on somebody in your team maintaining a prompt, you are using a prototyping tool for a production problem.

Why people end up here

Why teams start looking for a Chatbase alternative

01

Building it is easy; tuning it is not

Uploading the sources takes ten minutes. Getting the assistant to handle badly phrased questions, questions that mix two topics and questions with no answer takes continuous iteration on prompt, sources and chunking. That work falls entirely on you.

02

The bot knows nothing about your industry

The platform is deliberately generic because it has to serve everyone. But a clinic and an online shop need different behaviour, and that difference is not solved by writing a longer prompt.

03

Customisation stops at the widget

You can change colours, avatar and welcome message. The tone it answers in, what it does when it does not know something and when it hands over to a person is on you, and that is exactly what separates an acceptable bot from an embarrassing one.

04

When it fails, nobody is on the other side

The model is self-service: documentation and tickets. Nobody looks at your real conversations to tell you the assistant has spent two weeks answering your most common question badly.

When to switch and when not to

Stay with Chatbase if…

  • You want to validate the idea this week and do not need anyone alongside you.
  • You have technical people in house who do not mind spending time tuning prompts and sources.
  • Your use case is answering questions about documentation and little else.
  • You prefer a self-service tool you can cancel tomorrow without talking to anyone.

Switch to Soamee if…

  • You already tried a bot you built yourself and the answers were not good enough to put in front of customers.
  • Your industry has its own rules — appointments, stock, allergens, service agreements — that a generic assistant does not cover.
  • You need every answer to cite its source because you answer to customers, patients or auditors.
  • Nobody on your team wants to maintain prompts, sources and re-indexing every month.
Migration

What migrating from Chatbase looks like

01

We review what you already have

You show us the current bot and its conversation history. We look at what it answers well, what it gets wrong and which questions keep coming back.

02

We gather your sources

Documentation, website, catalogue and FAQs. We structure them so the assistant can cite them precisely, not just find them.

03

We configure your vertical

We start from the behaviour already tuned for your industry and adapt it to your operations, your tone and your handover rules.

04

We launch and keep tuning

It goes live on your site. From there we review real conversations with you and keep adjusting whatever needs it.

Test it with your own documents, not with a generic demo

Send us your real documentation and we will show you the assistant answering the questions your customers actually ask. No commitment, no cost.

FAQs about migrating from Chatbase

Can I reuse the documentation I already uploaded to Chatbase?
Yes. The documents, URLs and FAQs you trained your bot with work for us just the same: they are your sources, not a proprietary format. What we do differently is how we structure them before indexing, which accounts for much of the difference in answer quality.
How is your RAG different from theirs?
Both search your documentation before answering. The difference is in how the sources are prepared and in the default behaviour: our assistant always cites where each answer comes from and, when the information is not in your documentation, it says so instead of improvising something plausible.
How long does it take to go live?
It depends on the volume of documentation and the integrations you need, but the goal is for you to see the assistant answering with your own content before signing anything. In the demo we already work with your real sources.
What happens when the assistant does not know something?
It says so and hands over to your team through whichever channel you have defined, with the conversation context attached. We prefer an honest "I do not know this, let me pass you to a person" over an invented answer that sounds convincing.
What if I would rather keep maintaining it myself?
That works too. Some clients want to own the knowledge base and only ask us for the initial build and the configured vertical. We discuss it in the demo and make it clear from the start.
