Get cited by ChatGPT when people ask about your industry

We adjust your site, your content and your presence elsewhere on the web so that ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews use you as a source. And we measure it: traffic from an AI assistant can be counted.

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the work of getting AI assistants to cite your website when they answer. At Soamee we cover four fronts: AI crawlers can read your content (robots.txt, server-rendered HTML, llms.txt), every key page opens with an answer a model can extract, your brand shows up in the sources those models consult (directories, media, communities), and the traffic and mentions coming from ChatGPT or Perplexity are measured in GA4 and in server logs. The foundation is the same as SEO: what Google or Bing do not index, an assistant will not cite.

What we do

Six pieces, from server logs to industry directories

Half of GEO is engineering: crawling, rendering, structured data and measurement. The other half is content and brand presence. We do both.

AI crawl audit

We review robots.txt, CDN and firewall. Many sites block GPTBot, ClaudeBot or PerplexityBot without knowing it, sometimes through an anti-bot rule that is on by default. We also check that the content is in the HTML without running JavaScript.

Extractable answers

We rewrite the opening of the pages that matter with a direct answer block of 40 to 70 words, marked up with Schema.org. That is the fragment a model can lift as is.

Structured data

FAQPage, Organization, Service, Product or Article depending on the page type. Validated JSON-LD generated from the CMS, so it does not go stale when the content changes.

llms.txt for agents

We publish llms.txt and llms-full.txt generated on every build from your content, so an agent visiting your site finds an accurate, current summary nobody has to maintain by hand.

Presence in cited sources

We ask the assistants about your category, note which sources they cite and work there: Clutch, Sortlist or G2 profiles, industry directories, media and communities.

AI traffic measurement

A dedicated AI assistant channel in GA4, log analysis to see which pages ChatGPT-User or Perplexity-User request, and a monthly mentions dashboard that asks the same questions every month.

What we have done on soamee.com

Everything we offer is already running on our own site, and you can check it by opening the source code or the public files.

11

AI crawlers explicitly allowed in our robots.txt: GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and six more

3

files for models generated on every build from the same blog and case study content: llms.txt, llms-full.txt and llms.json

100+

pages that open with an answer block marked up with schema.org/Answer right below the hero

5

professional directories with a reviewed and updated profile

Result: when you ask ChatGPT for software development agencies in Spain, Soamee appears in the answer.

How we work

From the baseline to monthly tracking

We start by measuring where you are, because without that baseline there is no way to tell whether anything worked.

01

Baseline

We ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot the 20-30 questions your customer asks before buying. We record who appears, in what order and with which sources.

02

Technical groundwork

Crawling, rendering, Schema.org and llms.txt. This is engineering work and usually the first thing that can be fixed.

03

Citable content

Direct answers, FAQs built on your customers’ real questions, and your own data. Models cite facts: a figure only you can publish outweighs ten generic pages.

04

Tracking

We ask the same questions every month, cross-check the result with the GA4 AI channel and the logs, and decide what to work on next.

FAQ

What people ask us about GEO

What is the difference between GEO and SEO? +

SEO aims for ranking and clicks on Google; GEO aims to be cited inside an assistant’s answer. They share the technical foundation: assistants with search retrieve candidates from indexes such as Google’s or Bing’s, so what is not indexed does not get cited. That is why we do not do GEO without reviewing technical SEO first.

Can you guarantee I will appear in ChatGPT? +

No, and be wary of anyone who does. Answers change between users, days and model versions. What can be done is to measure how often you appear across a fixed set of questions and check whether that rate goes up month after month.

How do you measure results? +

With three sources: the AI assistant channel in GA4 (chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, gemini.google.com, copilot.microsoft.com, claude.ai), server logs for visits from agents such as ChatGPT-User, and the monthly mentions dashboard. We add a "how did you hear about us?" field to your form, because part of that traffic arrives as direct.

Do I have to let AI companies train on my content? +

No. Training crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended) and search crawlers (OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, ChatGPT-User) are different and are configured separately in robots.txt. Blocking training while allowing search is a valid choice. Blocking everything takes you out of the answers.
