}Cos'è FAQPage Schema?
FAQPage Schema is a type of structured data defined by Schema.org that helps search engines understand that a page contains a list of frequently asked questions with their answers. When you correctly implement this markup in JSON-LD format, Google can display your questions and answers directly in search results as rich snippets, significantly increasing your page's visibility.
Why use FAQ structured data?
FAQPage structured data offers several key advantages for your SEO strategy. First, it increases the space your result occupies in the SERP (Search Engine Results Page), which translates to a higher click-through rate (CTR). When Google displays your expandable questions and answers below your link, your result can take up two to three times more visual space than a standard result.
Additionally, FAQ rich snippets help position your content for conversational and long-tail searches. When a user searches for a specific question, Google can extract your answer directly from the schema and display it prominently. This is especially relevant with the growth of voice search and virtual assistants.
How to implement FAQPage schema
Implementing FAQPage schema is straightforward. You just need to include a JSON-LD code block in the <head> or <body> of your HTML page. The JSON-LD (JavaScript Object Notation for Linked Data) format is recommended by Google because it's easy to implement and doesn't interfere with the visible content of the page.
Each question is represented as a Question object with a name property for the question text, and an acceptedAnswer object of type Answer with a text property for the answer. Tutti questions are grouped within the mainEntity array of the FAQPage object.
Google's requirements for FAQ Schema
Google establishes several guidelines for your FAQ schema to be eligible for rich snippets. The content of the questions and answers must be visible on the page to the user, not just in the code. You cannot use FAQ schema for advertising purposes, and all content must be original and written by the website. Answers can contain basic HTML like links, lists, and bold text, allowing you to enrich the information displayed in search results.
It's also important that each page has a reasonable number of questions. While there's no strict limit, Google recommends that the schema accurately reflects the actual content of the page. A good practice is to include between 5 and 15 genuine frequently asked questions that provide value to the user.
Validation and testing
Once you've generated your schema with our tool, you can validate it using the Google Rich Results Test or the Schema.org Validator. These tools will tell you if your markup is correct and if it's eligible to appear as a rich snippet in search results.
Remember that the appearance of rich snippets is not guaranteed: Google decides whether to show them based on several factors, including the quality of your content, the authority of your domain, and the relevance to the user's query. However, correctly implementing structured data is the essential first step to qualify for them.
